Tigers Fall to 5-10

The MCC women's basketball team hosted the Lakers of Iowa Lakes Community College Wednesday (12/13) night in the Student Activity Center. The Tigers had lost four straight entering the game while the Lakers had lost two in a row. With both teams struggling, each was hoping to grab the last victory before the holiday break. The Tigers would struggle in the first quarter and would not be able to make up the difference and eventually fall to the Lakers 63-53.

The Tigers would trail 25-13 at the end of the first quarter after poor shooting and turnover issues. The Lakers Calynn Jackson would go 5-7 from the arc in the first half giving the Lakers a 41-24 lead at half. Loralei Siliga would record 26 points in the loss while Maria Cruz Uceda would score 10 points and grab eight total rebounds. The third quarter saw the Tigers outscore the Lakers 19-6 to bring the game within four points but the Tigers would fail to convert on multiple possessions in the fourth quarter and be outscored 16-10 to fall to the visiting Lakers 63-53.

The Tigers will have a much needed rest before taking the court again on January 6 when they travel to Quincy, Illinois to take on John Wood Community College. John Wood has struggled this season, going 0-10 prior to the holiday break. The Blazers currently average 50 points a game while shooting 33% from the field.
