Tigers Take Down Ellsworth

The MCC women's basketball team traveled to Iowa Falls, Iowa on Wednesday night to take on the 6-8 Panthers of Ellsworth Community College. This was the second game between the two Iowa Valley colleges as the Tigers handed the Panthers their forth loss of the season back in November. The Tigers would get back in the win column Wednesday night as they defeated the Panthers 53-44.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Loralei Siliga who went 7-11 from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line for 20 points. Claudia Morente played her best game on the year dropping 16 points, and grabbed six rebounds while recording four steals on the night. Alyssa Roth and Maria Cruz Uceda would each add 7 points.

"The girls played a good game against a team that took us to overtime early in the year," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "We had a rough stretch so getting a hard fought win will be good for the team moving forward."

The 6-11 Tigers will be back in action Saturday, January 13 when they travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa to take on the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College. The Reivers are currently 13-4 on the season while averaging 78 points per game. The game can be viewed on the Reiver Sports Network located on www.goreivers.com.
