Tigers Get Back on Track

The MCC women's basketball team travelled to Columbus, Nebraska to take on the 5-14 Raiders of Central Community College.  The Tigers were coming off a road loss to Concordia University Friday night while the Raiders suffered a loss Thursday to Hastings College. The Tigers would get back in the win column Saturday, defeating the Raiders 71-55.

Sophomores Alyssa Roth and Loralei Siliga stole the show for the Tigers, each scoring 22 points. Roth and Siliga went 6-13 and 7-14 from the field respectfully.

"We had great production from Alyssa and Loralei today," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "The two have played well this season but tonight they both had a great feel for the offense and it showed in their point totals."

Claudia Morente looked like her old self, recording her first double-double of the season going 5-10 from the field and 4-8 from three point arc for 14 points and 10 assist.

"Claudia has struggled offensively this season but tonight she did an excellent job facilitating scores with 10 assists," stated Garber. "When Claudia, Alyssa, and Loralei get on the same page we can play efficient basketball."

The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday, January 27 when the Hawks of Northeast Community College come to the Student Activity Center. The Hawks currently stand at 16-2 while averaging 69 points per game. Saturday's conference matchup will be streamed live with links posted on MCC Athletics social media platforms and on the Tiger Live Stream tab on MCCathletics.com.
