The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has named Alyssa Roth the Division I Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week from January 15-21. Roth and the Tigers played three games last week giving Roth plenty of opportunities on the floor. Over the three game span, the Tigers went 2-1 with Roth averaging over 20 points.
Roth was efficient all week long going 20-34 from the field while grabbing 14 rebounds. Against Little Priest Tribal College Roth put on a dominant performance going 8-11 from the field and 4-5 from the three throw line for 22 points. She backed that up with an 18-point performance against Concordia College on the road before coming back to the Student Activity Center for another 22-point performance against Central Community College.
"Alyssa has been playing well since the holiday break," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "She has a great understanding of the offense and plays with intensity. Her play last week shows her skill level and hopefully she will continue to play with the same efficiency down the stretch."
Roth and the rest of the women's basketball team will be back in action of Saturday, January 27 when they host the Hawks of Northeast Community College. The Hawks are currently 16-2 on the season and 0-1 in the conference after suffering a loss to Iowa Western. The game will tip off at 5:00 in the Student Activity Center.
