Tigers Fall to 8-15

The MCC women's basketball team took to the hardwood Wednesday night when the Reivers of Iowa Western entered the Student Activity Center for their second match up of the season. The ICCAC rival Reivers have put together a solid season, entering the night 19-4 and ranked #24 in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings.

The Tigers had a hard time slowing down the Reivers early on, going into halftime down 34-17. The Tigers shot only 28% as a team in the first half compared to 53% for the Reivers. Sophomores Loralei Siliga, Alyssa Roth, and Claudia Morente took over the second half for the Tigers, with Siliga and Roth finishing with 18 points apiece, and Morente finished with 9. Alyssa Roth played exceptionally well down the stretch going 7-9 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line.

"We had a hard time in the first half offensively but picked it up in the second half," stated Head Coach Steve Garber. "We had tough matchups all night but I liked the way we responded and finished strong."

The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday, January 7 when they take on the Bears of Des Moines Area Community College. The Bears are currently ranked #14 in the latest NJCAA Division II Rankings and hold a 17-4 record.  The game will tip off at 5:30 pm in the Student Activity Center with live stream links posted on mccathletics.com and on MCC Athletics social media platforms.
