WBB Ends Losing Streak

It was a long time coming, but for the first time since December, 6, the Tiger WBB team picked up a win. The win came on Tuesday, February 19 against Graceland University JV.

The game started off sloppily for both teams. Turnovers cost both teams scoring opportunities, however, neither team was able to take much advantage of the oppositions miscues. In addition to the turnovers, neither team shot well in the first half. At halftime, the Tigers trailed 31-22 while shooting just 28.6% from the field and committing nine turnovers.

The third quarter saw the Tigers claw their way back into the game. As the third quarter wrapped up, the Tigers had cut the nine-point deficit to four. Even more importantly, their offense was starting to flow.

In the fourth quarter, it was all Tigers. It took just three minutes for the Tigers to score the first ten points of the quarter as back to back three point shots by Clara Solsona and Eva Carballo pushed the Tiger lead to 46-40. After a Yellowjacket free-throw, Solsona hit another shot from deep and moved the Tiger lead to eight. From that point on, the Tigers lead comfortably.

The 23 points in the fourth quarter came largely from beyond the arc as five of the seven Tiger field goals came from deep. Of the five, freshman guard, Clara Solsona accounted for four. Solsona led the Tigers in points with 25.
