Tiger women drop two at home

Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team dropped two games this past week as they draw to the end of their regular season.

Monday, Feb. 10 the Tigers traveled to Des Moines to play Grand View JV.  In the second half, the game got away from MCC as Grand View tallied 28 points in the third quarter to pull away quickly. The Tigers were led by Laurin Lyons with another double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. MCC was 22-24 from the free throw line, led by Lyons going 10 for 10. Other double figure scorers were Carla Collado with 12 and Eva Carballo with 10. The final was 92-68.

MCC hosted North Central MO on Wednesday, Feb. 12.  It was a close game the entire evening and even though MCC made it competitive in the fourth quarter, outscoring North Central 25-22, they just couldn't get the win. The final score was MCC 63 and NCMC 72.  MCC had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double digits.  Dana Stokes had 10, Collado had 11, Eva Zaragoza had 13 and Carballo with 19.
