Marshalltown Community College volleyball head coach Chris Brees added the newest addition to the Tigers' program with the signing of Lynnville-Sully standout Cassie Cullen. Cullen signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday afternoon to attend MCC beginning in the fall of 2014

"Cassie is a tremendous athlete," Brees stated. "Her athletic ability will fit in nicely with our program here at MCC. As a middle hitter, Cassie will be able to step in and contribute right away for us."

Cullen, a three-sport athlete at Lynnville-Sully, led the Hawks' volleyball team in 2013 with 251 kills while playing in all 75 matches. The senior also led the team with 205 digs, 20 total blocks and tied for the team-lead with 38 service aces. Cullen, also a member of the Hawks' basketball and track teams, helped lead the volleyball team to 10 wins in 2013.

"With the addition of Cassie," Brees added, "and the rest of our signing class so far, we're all very excited for what 2014 will bring. Cassie is the all-around athlete that we needed."

Cullen joins Karissa Wilcoxson of Ottumwa High School as Brees' first two signings for the upcoming season.

MCC recorded 22 wins in 2013, the program's most wins since 2005. The Tigers will make the jump to NJCAA Division I status begining in 2014.
