Tigers tamed against Ottawa JV

Ottawa, KS—After taking the opening set, the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team faltered down the stretch as the Ottawa Braves JV rallied for a 3-1 victory. Kayla Prosser (Eldora, IA/South Hardin) and Mady Van Metre (Marshalltown, IA/Ames) combined for 35 of the team's 52 kills.

Playing in their second consecutive road match in Kansas, the Tigers rolled to a 25-12 win in the first set. The Braves responded after the opening set drubbing to take three close matches from the Tigers- 27-25, 26-24, and 25-22. With the loss, MCC falls to 7-12 on the year.

Van Metre posted a team-high 19 kills, the second-highest total for the sophomore this year.  Prosser contributed 16 kills for the Tigers. The two attackers combined for a hitting percentage of .288 while the rest of the team recorded a -.029 mark.

Prosser tallied a team-high 15 digs while Riley Clark (Papillion, NE/Papillion La Vista South) added 12. Sam Hinrichs (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny) served up 38 assists and Freshman Alanna Dubberke (Cambridge, IA/Ballard) came up with four total blocks for the Tigers.

The Tigers receive their first weekend off of the season and will return to action on Sept. 30 at Kirkwood Community College.
