Volleyball signs Danesha Cowley from Waterloo West

Marshalltown Community College head volleyball coach Chris Brees signed Danesha Cowley to a National Letter of Intent on Friday afternoon. Cowley played volleyball at Waterloo West High School.

Cowley was an Honorable Mention All-Mississippi Valley Conference selection in 2014 and 2013.

"Danesha is probably one of the best athletes that we've had in the program since I arrived," Brees stated. She brings a lot of raw talent that we will look to develop quickly."

"It's nice to get into the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area to recruit," added Brees. "She was looking at other schools within our conference and she chose us."

Cowley expressed her excitement to join the Tigers. "MCC just had a great vibe," said Cowley. "I felt comfortable coming here. There are great facilities and I just really enjoyed the whole campus."

Brees and Cowley shared a mutual connection prior to the recruitment process.

"My club coach, Mikayla Sims, played for coach Brees while they were at Drake," said Cowley. "She had a lot of good things to say about him which helped make my decision a little easier."

Cowley recorded a team-high 129 kills for Waterloo West as a senior, posting 1.61 kills per set. Cowley will look to contribute at both the outside and middle hitter positions for the Tigers.

A 2014 member of the All-MVC Academic team, Cowley intends to pursue a Liberal Arts major while at MCC.
