MCC head volleyball coach Chris Brees resigns

Marshalltown Community College head volleyball coach Chris Brees has announced his resignation. Brees will be pursuing future opportunities in the coaching profession.

Brees took over at MCC at the start of the 2012 season. Over the course of three years, Brees accumulated 54 total wins and helped the Tigers transition to the NJCAA Division I level in 2014. In their first season at the Division I level, the Tigers went 18-27.

During his tenure, Brees coached six all-region selections, including two first-team picks. The volleyball program also produced two NJCAA Academic All-Americans and 18 Academic All-Region honorees. The Tigers were named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.

MCC Director of Athletics Dan Huntley expressed his gratitude to Brees for his time as a Tiger. "I would like to thank Chris for his hard work and for his contributions to our department.  In his short time here, he helped raise our expectations for the volleyball program's success on and off the court.  He also helped put a great number of prospects in our facilities by way of fundraising and tournament hosting.  We wish him well as he pursues other coaching opportunities."

A search for the next head volleyball coach will begin immediately.
