MCC Volleyball to host 2015 Tiger Invitational

The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team is set to host the 2015 Tiger Invitational at the Student Activity Center on Friday and Saturday. This year's invite features a six-team field.

MCC welcomes an array of teams from across the Midwest, including a pair of squads from the state of Iowa. Southwestern Community College, an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II member, and Graceland University JV will join Fort Scott Community College (KS), Lincoln Land Community College (IL), and Southeast Community College (NE) in this year's pool.

Lincoln Land and Graceland JV will open up the tournament at 2:00 PM on Friday alongside Fort Scott and Southeast. MCC's first game of the weekend will pair the Tigers against Southwestern Community College at 4:00 PM Friday. Lincoln Land and Southeast also face off at 4:00 PM. The first day of the invite wraps up with MCC vs. Graceland JV and Fort Scott vs. Southwestern at 6:00 PM.

Saturday pits Lincoln Land vs. Fort Scott and Southeast vs. Southwestern at 10:00 AM. The 12:00 PM grouping features MCC vs. Lincoln Land and Fort Scott vs. Graceland JV. The invite concludes with MCC and Southeast squaring off at 2:00 PM as well as Graceland JV and Southwestern.

Through three matches for the Tigers, freshman Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney), this week's ICCAC Division I Player of the Week, is averaging 3.22 kills per set, which ranks third in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) while her 5.78 digs per set rank first. Sophomore Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) is currently third in the conference with 7.78 assists per set.
