Tigers put up a fight in 3-1 loss at Iowa Lakes

Estherville, IA—Three players reached double-figure kills on Saturday afternoon for the Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team, but the Tigers fell on the road to Iowa Lakes Community College 3-1. Jordan Carter's (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) 14 kills paced MCC.

The Tigers dropped the first two sets to the Lakers, ranked No. 13 in the latest NJCAA Division II Volleyball poll, by scores of 25-20 and 25-19. MCC rallied to take a hard-fought third set, 25-23, but the Lakers answered emphatically in the fourth set, closing out the match by a score of 25-12.

Joining Carter was Lannie Dubberke (Cambridge, IA/Ballard) who tallied 11 kills for her second-consecutive double-digit kill match, and Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Repbulic/San Rafael) who posted 10 kills. Dubberke's .320 hitting percentage was a season high for the sophomore.

Raini Hilmer (Dysart, IA/Union) registered 37 assists, upping her team-leading total to 384 on the year which ranks third in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

The Tigers return home for an ICCAC matchup against Indian Hills Community College (13-2/1-0), ranked No. 8 in this week's NJCAA Division I Volleyball poll, at 7:00 PM on Tuesday night in the Student Activity Center.
