Tigers end skid with 3-1 win over Ellsworth

Marshalltown, IA—The Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team upended Ellsworth Community College on Friday night, snapping the team's seven-match losing streak. The Tigers improve to 3-10 overall on the year.

The Tigers jumped out early with a 25-17 victory in the first set against the Panthers. Ellsworth responded with a 25-20 victory in the set two, but the Tigers answered with straight set victories of 25-13 and 25-20 to take the match.

Sophomore Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) posted a team-high 12 kills for the second-straight match. Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) added 10 kills while Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) added nine.

Freshman Nina Bales (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) totaled 32 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) made her presence felt at the net, recording four block assists on the night.

The Tigers are back in action at the Student Activity Center on Saturday afternoon against Southeastern Community College at 12:00 PM.
