Tigers roll to second straight win at home

Marshalltown, IA—For the second consecutive day, the Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team picked up a win as the Tigers defeated Southeastern Community College 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Student Activity Center.

MCC, who defeated Ellsworth Community College 3-1 on Friday night, picked up wins in the first two sets against the Blackhawks by scores of 25-21 and 25-20. Southeastern rallied for a 25-19 victory in the third, but the Tigers cruised to a 25-11 victory in set four to earn the win.

Sophomore Jordan Carter (Sigourney, IA/Sigourney) put together one of her best matches of her career, setting a new personal best with 23 kills. Carter also produced 16 digs and added a service ace. Sophomore Nicole Montgomery (Beaman, IA/BCLUW) continued to thrive for the Tigers, posting her third-straight match of double digit kills, tallying 10 against the Blackhawks.

Freshman Nina Bales (Lacona, IA/Southeast Warren) posted 38 assists and 10 digs while DaNesha Cowley (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) and Paola Toledo (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic/San Rafael) combined for 15 kills and 30 digs.

The Tigers will look to expand their winning streak with a home match against Iowa Central Community College at 7:30 PM on Wednesday night.
