Jordan Carter named ICCAC Player of the Week

Sophomore Jordan Carter of the Marshalltown Community College Volleyball team helped lead the Tigers to a pair of victories last week and has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Player of the Week for her effort.

The Tigers posted back-to-back victories on Friday and Saturday, dropping Ellsworth Community College and Southeastern Community College by 3-1 match scores. Carter, an All-Region XI First-Team selection as a freshman, carried the team over the course of the weekend to help MCC snap a seven-game losing streak.

Carter posted a double-double against Ellsworth, totaling a team-high 16 kills along with 16 digs and a service ace. The sophomore had her best hitting game of her career after forcing just one error in 32 attempts for a .469 percentage in the win.

Carter upped her performance on Saturday night against the Blackhawks, going for a career-high 23 kills while racking up a .372 hitting percentage. Carter also added 16 digs and another service ace.

In the team's 3-1 loss to Grand View JV on Wednesday night, Carter posted nine kills and a season-high 27 digs for the Tigers.

Carter ranks second in the ICCAC with 173 kills and fifth with her 3.04 kills per set average.

The weekly award is Carter's third throughout her MCC career. She was named volleyball player of the week on Sept. 9 of last season and also earned softball pitcher of the week honors for the MCC Softball team during the spring season.

MCC hosts Iowa Central Community College at 7:30 PM on Wednesday night at the Student Activity Center.
