Tigers split on Friday

The MCC volleyball team took on Southeast Community College in Norfolk Nebraska this afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Storm 3-0. The Tigers took the first set 25-18 then had a hard fought battle in the second where the Tigers prevailed 25-23. The Tigers then took the third set 25-20 and moved to 7-0 on the season.

In the second match of the day, the Tigers fell the Raiders of Central Community College. The Tigers fell in straight sets 20-25, 18-25, and 21-25. The loss to Central was the first on the season, coach Justin Hoskins commented, "We played solid volleyball for about 90% of the day, the 10% where we continue to make mistakes is costing us in key moments right now". The Tiger volleyball team will be back in action Saturday when they take on Kirkwood and Northeast. Coach Hoskins stated, "The good news is that we're back on the court tomorrow morning and we'll have another chance to get better."

Coming off a strong start to the season, the team needs to refocus after their first loss. "I think this weekend will show our girls that in order to compete with the top teams that we play, we have to put together full matches and get rid of the 10% that's holding us back".

MCC volleyball will be back in town on Sunday September 10 when they take on William Penn.
