Tigers Defeat Lakers 3-2

The Tiger volleyball team traveled to Estherville Iowa to take on the Lakers of Iowa Lakes Community College on Wednesday night. The 10-6 Tigers started slow dropping a close first set 24-26. The Lakers started the second set fast and did not let up as they won the set 20-25. Down two sets, a different Tiger team broke the huddle as they dominated the third set winning 25-13. With momentum building, the Tigers took the fourth set 25-17 and forced a fifth. The fifth and final set started with the Tigers jumping to an 8-4 lead before the Lakers rallied and tied up the set. The Tigers pulled out a 17-15 set and finished the comeback winning 3-2.

"I am very proud this team was able to stay level headed and never gave up on each other. After seeing everyone in a pressure situation I think we will be able handle tougher situations as the season progresses," stated freshman defensive specialist Kierstin Rosipal.

"We showed some toughness tonight," stated coach Hoskins after the match, "after getting down 2-0 it would have been really easy for our girls to hang their heads and start thinking about the long trip back, but instead they were able to dig in, make a few adjustments and in the end we were rewarded for our grittiness."

The Tigers will look to improve on their 11-6 record Friday night when they host North Iowa Area Community College at 7:00 PM in the Student Activity Center. The Tigers are 2-2 at home going against a 4-10 NIACC team.
