Warriors Sweep Tigers in Conference Match Up

Wednesday night the Tigers hosted the Warriors of Indian Hills in the Student Activity Center on the Marshalltown Community College campus. The 13-6 Tigers were on a 3-match win streak beating Iowa Lakes Community College, North Iowa Area Community College, and Ellsworth Community College in the past week. The #16 Warriors suffered three tough losses last weekend against Northeastern Junior College, Hutchinson Community College, and Navarro College. An impressive Warriors team has four girls leading the Conference in five different statistical categories.

The Warriors started fast and never let up the entire match as they rolled in the first set winning 8-25. In the second set, the Tigers failed to build momentum during a close back and forth battle and again fell to the Warriors 18-25. The Warriors showed why they are the #16 team in the country in the third set as they won the set 19-25 and took the match 3-0.

"Hopefully we will be able to use this match as a learning experience." stated head coach Justin Hoskins after the match, "We need to find a way to correct the mistakes that have been haunting us throughout the year in order to move forward as a team. We have the talent necessary to compete with the teams that we need to but we have to correct the areas that are costing us points right now."

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they host Dakota County Technical College and Southwestern Community College at 4:00 and 8:00 PM. Dakota County is currently 6-10 on the season with two previous losses from the Tigers. Southwestern is currently 7-16 on the season and will face the Tigers for the first time.
