Marshalltown Community College Athletic Director, Dr. Kathleen Brown, would like to announce Jesenia Colbert as the September MCC Female Athlete of the Month. Over the last month Jesenia has compiled a team leading 245 kills which is the eighth most in the NJCAA. Colbert's .184 hitting percentage also leads the team along with her 3.27 kills per set.
"Jesenia has really emerged as a leader both on and off of the court for our volleyball team." Stated MCC Athletic Director Dr. Kathleen Brown. "She does a good job of learning and adjusting within the course of the match to really make her presence known. She has the ability to take over a game down the stretch and her competitive spirit has really driven the team to achieve as much success as they have over the first half of the season."
Head Coach Justin Hoskins stated, "Jesenia has done a great job all season of being someone who can carry us offensively, we look forward to her having a strong second half of the season."
The Tiger volleyball team will be in action October 7 when they travel to Mason City to participate in a tournament hosted by North Iowa Area Community College. The Tigers are set to take on Iowa Lakes Community College and North Iowa Area Community College. The Tigers have previously defeated both teams and will look to improve on their 15-7 record.
