Tigers take William Penn JV in 5 Sets

Thursday night the MCC volleyball team traveled to Oskaloosa to take on the William Penn University JV squad. Earlier in the season, the Tigers defeated William Penn 3-1, this time the Tigers would take the match in 5. The Tigers would start the match with a first set with a narrow victory fighting back to win 25-23. The Tigers would then drop the next two sets 24-26 and 23-25. It was clear that that the two teams where evenly matched.  The Tigers would take the fourth set in a dominate fashion defeating William Penn 25-12 and finished the match in the fifth set 15-11.

Tiger freshman outside hitter, Jesenia Colbert has another solid match as she compiled 24 kills on the night. Fellow freshman Jelena Dukic continues to impress as the teams setter, placing the ball in the rights spots, she had 48 assists on the night. Celeste Barron-Nicoletti also had a solid match defensively recording a team high twenty-six digs to keep the Tigers alive in the early sets.

The Tigers will be back in action Saturday when they host Grand View University and Southeast Community College.
