Jesenia Colbert Selected to All-Region Team

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has selected the 2017 Division I Volleyball All-Region team. The Marshalltown Community College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that freshmen outside hitter Jesenia Colbert has been selected to the team. Colbert leads the conference in kills per set with 3.66 and is second in the conference with 454 total kills. Colbert was a dominant force for the Tigers all year long, as she leads the team in kills, total points, and hitting percentage.

Head Coach Justin Hoskins had high praise for is freshmen outside hitter stating, "I believe Jesenia is very deserving of being an All-Region player. She posted some very impressive stats this season. With everyone having completed their regular seasons and distract tournaments, Jesenia is not only a top performer in the region, but in the country with the 8th most kills and the 6th most kills per set among all Division I NJCAA performers this season."

With Colbert only being a freshman, the opportunity for her to come back next year is exciting to Tiger fans and Coach Hoskins. When asked about Colbert returning for next season Hoskins stated, "I'm excited to work with Jesenia this spring and help her become one the best all-around outside hitters in the country."

Joining Colbert on the All-Region team is Caitlyn Cooper from Iowa Western Community College who won the ICCAC Player of the Year for Division I volleyball as well as three other Iowa Western players in Irina Alekseeva, Makayla Doye, and Hina Pua'a. Indian Hills Community College has two girls selected in Jessica Da Silva and Camila Nicoletti. With Iowa Western victory in the District J Tournament, they punched their ticket to the National Championships in Hutchinson Kansas.
