Tigers Remain Undefeated After Road Win

Oskaloosa, IA – The MCC volleyball team took on the junior varsity squad of William Penn University on Wednesday night, defeating the Statesmen 3-0 and remain undefeated. The match was originally scheduled to take place in Marshalltown, serving as the Tigers first home match of the season, but travel issues forced William Penn to stay home so the Tigers hit the road for their sixth straight road match.

Defeating the Statesmen in straight sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-16) the Tigers have now finished four matches without giving up a set this year. Freshman Elena Yee stared on Wednesday night, recording 12 kills on 19 total attacks and a service ace for 13 points. Yee was also solid defensively, recording 10 digs. Freshman Chiara Mottola also had a big night with eight kills on 11 total attacks.

Remaining undefeated, the Tigers will try to tie last year's mark by moving to 7-0 Thursday, August 30 against Grand View University's JV.  Last year's team started 7-0 and finished 20-16 after suffering multiple injuries that shrunk the roster to only seven players by the time the Region XI Tournament started. This year's team, if healthy, looks to be able to make some noise throughout the regular season and into conference play.
