Tigers Dominate Panthers on the Road

Iowa Falls, IA – The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team defeated the Panthers of Ellsworth Community College in straight sets on Thursday night, 25-22, 25-14, 25-16. The Tigers have had a very impressive start to the season, now 14-2.

Elena Yee continues to dominate on the outside, recording 11 kills and only 1 error. Chiara Mottola recorded 10 kills on the night and finished with an impressive .562 hitting percentage. Marija Egic also played well in the sweep, recording 8 kills.

For the second week in a row, freshman libero Halee Pedro earned ICCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week and her excellent play continued Thursday, recording a team leading 11 digs. Sophomore Jelena Dukic also earned conference honors, being named ICCAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. The sophomore setter recorded 33 assists Thursday, her 547 assists now leads the ICCAC and ranks in the top 10 nationally.

The Tiger volleyball team will hit the road again Friday, September 21 when they travel to Quincy, Illinois to take on John Wood Community College. The Blazers are currently 1-16 this season and 0-3 in conference play. For more information on the MCC volleyball team, follow @tigervb-mcc on twitter.
