Medcalf Named Pitcher of the Week

Freshman pitcher, Jake Medcalf, has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference's Division I pitcher of the week for his performance during the week of April 15th through the 21st. The right-hander threw 6.2 innings in two different appearances. Against Division II opponent NIACC, Medcalf pitched four important, scoreless innings, which included four strikeouts. Against conference opponent Indian Hills, Medcalf threw 2.2 scoreless innings to seal a win for the Tigers.

On the season, Medcalf is second on the Tiger's roster in innings pitched at 32.1, most of them coming in relief. He is also second in strikeouts with 24 batters fanned, and has the second lowest Earned Run Average of the Tiger arms.

Medcalf and the Tigers are in action today at home against North Iowa Area Community College with a single 9-inning game starting at 3PM. They return to conference action Saturday, April 27th with a full day of baseball. The games will start at 11AM against Iowa Western, where the teams will finish a halted game from March 1st. After that they will play their regularly scheduled double header. Saturday will also mark the final home contests for the 18 Tiger sophomores.
