  • Tiger Soccer Sophomores Commit

    A very successful group of Marshalltown CC soccer student-athletes have made their commitments to play at the next level. To date, twelve of the fourteen sophomores have inked for next season. The sophomore class won 31 games over their two seasons, which included a National Tournament appearance.
  • Rafael Ramos Earns Highest Distinction
    December 14, 2018
    Sophomore defense man Rafael Ramos has earned the highest academic distinction from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Scholar Athlete of the Year. Ramos had previously been named a 1st Team All-American selection for the NSCAA, as well as an NSCAA Scholar All-American. He will receive his award at the National Convention in January in Chicago, IL.
  • Tigers Storybook Season Ends at the National Championship Tournament

    The Marshalltown Community College soccer team capped their record setting season with a win and a tie at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship. These marks placed them with a fifth place finish at the tournament, the second highest in program history.
  • Three Tigers Named All-Americans

    The NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) and NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) released their All-American selections for the 2018 season this week as Rafael Vacas, Joel Serrano, and Rafael Ramos have been recognized on the elite teams. This is the highest number of players selected in one year in Marshalltown Community College Soccer history.
  • MCC wins the battle of the Tigers at the National Tournament

    Daytona Beach, FL- Marshalltown CC’s Men’s Soccer squad came up big when they needed to on Monday night against Cowley County CC (KS). The teams met in Pool D of the NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer National Championship, MCC as the four seed and Cowley as the ninth seed. Freshman Kazuki Kimura would emerge as the hero, netting a goal in each half to carry the Marshalltown Tigers to victory, earning them a crucial three points in pool play.
  • MSOC to be 4th Seed at National Tournament.

    Daytona Beach, FL- The seedings and pools were released this morning for the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men’s Soccer National Championship. The Marshalltown Community College Tigers were awarded the 4th seed in the tournament landing them in pool D with Eastern Florida State College and Cowley College. Pool D play action opens up on Monday, November 12th at 5PM ET.
  • Serrano and Viladot named ICCAC Athletes of the Week

    Sophomore goalkeeper Joel Serrano and freshman defenseman Aleix Viladot have been named ICCAC Athletes of the Week for soccer for the positions of goalkeeper and field player, respectively. They both earned this honor in large part for their heroic efforts with 19 seconds left in the Great Lakes District Championship Game.
  • Tigers Punch Their Ticket Via Penalty Kicks

    A wet and rainy day was the setting for an unforgettable match. 90 minutes of regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods were not enough to determine a winner in the Great Lakes District Championship on Saturday, October 3, when the Tigers faced the Region IV champions, Morton College Panthers from Cicero, Illinois. Instead, it would take a shoot out to see the Tigers prevail and punch their ticket to the NJCAA DI National Soccer Tournament.
  • Serrano tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week

    Sophomore Joel Serrano has been named the goalkeeper of the week for the week of October 22nd through October 28th by the National Junior College Athletic Association. During the week, Serrano was a main factor in the Tigers winning their first Region XI Championship since 2012. During the week, the Tigers defeated Iowa Western 2-0, and then #8 Iowa Lakes 1-0 in overtime.
  • Tigers Rack In Post-Season Awards

    The Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team continues to bring in the hardware as the post season honors are awarded. After Saturday’s Region XI Championship match, Head Coach Rafael Martinez was named co-coach of the year with Iowa Lakes’ Ben MacRae. He was awarded this distinction after the Tigers were crowned the Region XI regular season champions earning them the top seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This is the second time he has earned this award.
  • Tigers Secure Region XI Championship in Overtime Thriller

    A golden goal in the 6th minute in overtime propelled the Tigers to the title over Iowa Lakes Community College. Sophomore Rafael Vacas, who was later named Region XI Player of the Year, netted the game winner in extra time giving the Tigers their first Region XI Tournament Title since 2012.
  • Tigers shut out the Reivers, advance to ICCAC finals

    The Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team executed all around to come out on top against Iowa Western Community College in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Regional Semifinal on Tuesday. The victory snapped a three-year losing streak to the Reivers in post-season play.
  • Tigers Soar to 2nd in NJCAA

    In the latest poll released by the NJCAA, the Marshalltown Men’s Soccer team has claimed the second spot. This is the highest national rating for any sport in MCC athletics history. The team currently sits with a 15-1 overall record, 9-1 within the ICCAC. The Tigers secured the ICCAC Regular Season Championship on Saturday which guarantees home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Decisive shutouts last week versus Hawkeye Community College and William Penn’s JV squad helped elevate the team four slots from last week (6th). The Tigers success can be attributed in part to their stingy defense, which is currently ranked 3rd within the NJCAA.
  • Tigers = ICCAC Regular Season Champions

    The Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team has secured the ICCAC regular season title for the first time since 2015. The Tigers dropped their first game of ICCAC play but then would run the table their final nine games to secure the crown. With a final record of 9-1, the Tigers edged out the Iowa Lakes CC Lakers on a head to head tie breaker.

    The sophomore class has been one of the best that the Tiger Soccer Program has seen over the last two years, and Friday was no different. Starting 11 sophomores against William Penn’s JV squad, the team left no questions of their dominance, dropping the Statesmen 5-0 in the final game of regular season play.

    A chilly night in Waterloo could not stop a red hot Tiger offense, as Marshalltown looked to end their ICCAC slate with a victory against the Hawkeye Community College Red Tails.

    The MCC Tigers Men's Soccer team moves up to #6 in the latest NJCAA poll released on October 9th. The team defeated Northeast Community College and Dakota County Technical College last week to rise up 5 notches in the national poll.
  • Strong Second Half Propels Tigers Past Blue Knights

    Marshalltown, IA- A flurry of second half goals capped off a strong 7-0 victory for Marshalltown Community College over the Blue Knights of Dakota County Technical College (DCTC). The win extends MCC’s win streak to eight, and keeps them at the top of the ICCAC with a record of 8-1. The Tigers are 13-1 overall on the season. The loss drops DCTC to 1-5 in ICCAC play, and 3-7 overall.
  • Ramos selected as ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Defense

    The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has announced the Athlete of the Week honors for the week of September 23-30. Marshalltown CC’s sophomore captain Rafael Ramos has been named Division I Soccer’s Athlete of the Week for Defense. Ramos is a first time honoree, and the first time a field player has been selected in the Defense category.
  • Tigers Extend Streak to Seven

    The 11th ranked Marshalltown Community College Tiger soccer team picked up a big road win on Tuesday against Northeast Community College extending their win streak to seven matches. Prior to the match, MCC was tied for second place in the ICCAC as NECC had sole possession of fourth place, respectively.

    The Marshalltown Community College Tigers move up to #11 in the latest NJCAA Poll released on October 2nd. Decisive wins last week versus Scott Community College and previously 14th ranked Iowa Lakes Community College helped propel the Tigers up four spots from the previous poll released. With Tuesday’s Indian Hills upset over Iowa Central Community College, the Tigers are also ranked atop of the ICCAC leader board with a record of 12-1, 7-1 in conference play.
  • Hatano's Goal Helps Tigers Sink Lakers

    Tiger freshman Jiroh Hatano netted his 6th goal of the season to help the 15th ranked MCC Tigers upset the 14th ranked Iowa Lakes CC Lakers in a match that was plagued by rain and wet playing conditions. The win is the 6th consecutive for Marshalltown and improves them to 11-1 overall on the season, 6-1 in ICCAC play. The Lakers, who were previously undefeated in conference play, fall to 10-2-1 overall and are now tied for 2nd in conference standings with Marshalltown behind the Iowa Central Tritons.
