2018 Soccer Schedule

Marshalltown, IA – Head Soccer Coach, Rafael Martinez, announced the Marshalltown Community College 2018 soccer schedule on Wednesday morning. The Tigers will host seven home games and one scrimmage this fall at the MCC soccer field. Coach Martinez prefers playing a tough schedule because he believes it best prepares his team for the post season stating, "As a program we have determined that the stronger the schedule the more prepared our team will be and the more developed our players will be by the end of the season. This is our ultimate goal so we prefer to struggle with quality opponent, often ranked, then improving out stats with less competitive programs."

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) finished with three teams ranked in last year's final National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) national poll with Indian Hills Community College ranked 6^th, Iowa Western Community College ranked 11^th and Marshalltown Community College ranked 12^th. The ICCAC is a very competitive conference with strong showings from all ten teams.

"Playing in a conference like the ICCAC, our players are put to the test on a consistent basis which ultimately makes them better competitors and more complete players," stated Martinez. "We also try to schedule highly competitive non-conference matches at the start of the regular season to support our progression towards peak performance. This year we feel that our non-conference games will create the environment to learn and improve as a team, so we hope the program will benefit in the long run."

This year's team will open up regular season play on Friday, August 24 at Carleton College and play again at Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Sunday, August 26. The Tigers will play their first game at home on Tuesday, August 28 in a non-conference matchup with Hawkeye Community College and then play four straight, away games. The team will be back in Marshalltown on Saturday, September 15 taking on conference foe Iowa Western Community College at 2:00 PM. Fans can arrive early for that game to be a part of the 'Tiger Tailgate'. The team will play at home again on Tuesday September 18 when they host the Trojans of North Iowa Area Community College at 4:00 PM. The Tigers will travel to Ottumwa, Iowa to take on Indian Hills Community College on Saturday, September 22 and then host Soctt Community College on Wednesday, September 26 for Staff Appreciation Day. The Lakers of Iowa Lakes Community College will come to Marshalltown on September 29 for a 2:00 showdown before the Tigers are back on the road against Northeast Community College on October 2. On Saturday, October 6 the Tigers host Dakota County Technical College at 2:00 PM then travel to Waterloo, Iowa on Tuesday, October 9 for their final conference game against Hawkeye Community College. The Tigers will wrap up the regular season with a game on October 12 at home against William Penn University where the team's sophomores will be honored in the annual Sophomore Day.
