Burlington, IA – The MCC soccer team dominated the Blackhawks of Southeastern Community College on Wednesday night, defeating their conference rival 11-0. After coming off a hard fought 2-1 loss against the Tritons of Iowa Central Community College on Saturday, the Tigers were not going to let up, and poured it on from start to finish scoring in the sixteenth and the eighty-seventh minute of play.

Joel Valderas started the onslaught for the Tigers, scoring on a lone run in the sixteenth minute. Just six minutes later sophomore Rafael Vacas scored the first of his three goals with an assist from Leonardo Tomasi. Vacas scored three goals in a row, all within sixteen minutes. Just before half, up 4-0, Jiroh Hatano put the ball in the net with an assist from Matheus Peveria.

Just seven minutes into the second half, Augusto Canha scored with an assist from Leonardo Tomasi, Tomasi's second assist of the night. Cunah's night was not over, just six minutes later he added another goal with an assist from Manoel dos Passos. Jiroh Hatano was able to get back in the action, moving the Tigers up 8-0 in the 70th minute. Andre Luis and Gerald Diaz connected for the Tigers ninth goal of the game and then Manoel dos Passos scored his second goal of the season in the 83rd minute with an assist from Evandro Resende. With time running off freshman Kenlove Solon received a hard foul inside the box, forcing a penalty kick that he put in the back of the net to seal the 11-0 victory.

"It was very good to see our team's attitude take over the game," stated Head Coach Rafael Martinez. "We started a little slow and inaccurate but as soon as the first goal went in, the team settled and started playing the way we can. I am very happy with how everyone went into the game and added their part to give ourselves a good and needed victory. We now focus on the next challenge. I hope we have a good turnout at home on Saturday and give our people a performance they can be proud of."

After Wednesday's thrashing of the Blackhawks the Tigers will be riding high into their Saturday showdown with the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College. The Tigers season came to end in Council Bluffs last year, falling 1-0 in the Region XI Semifinal match. The Reivers are currently 3-2-1 on the season, but have a very good team.
