The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has announced the Athlete of the Week honors for the week of September 23-30. Marshalltown CC's sophomore captain Rafael Ramos has been named Division I Soccer's Athlete of the Week for Defense. Ramos is a first time honoree, and the first time a field player has been selected in the Defense category.

Ramos was instrumental in the Tigers shutout of Scott during the week. In absences of the other key defensemen, Ramos anchored the backline that limited Scott to just one shot, none on goal. He was also a driving force behind the team defense that limited Iowa Lakes to only two shots on goal. Iowa Lakes was previously averaging 4.25 goals per game prior to their match against the Tigers. Ramos was a second team all ICCAC selection last season.

"I am very happy and appreciative that the defensive work the entire team is putting forth on the field was recognized through Rafa Ramos, who is a key player when we do not have the ball and a great leader of our entire squad," Head Coach Rafael Martinez commented about the recognition of Ramos.
