Tigers Move to 13-2 After 4-0 Weekend

Beatrice, Ne/ Mason City, IA – The MCC volleyball team had a four-match weekend, traveling to Southeast Community College on Saturday for two matches and then traveled to North Iowa Area Community College for two matches on Sunday. The Tigers took on Ottowa University JV, Southeast Community College, Grand View University JV, and Dakota County Technical College, defeating all four and moving to 13-2 on the year.

After suffering two losses to ranked opponents, the Tigers rebounded throughout the weekend, picking up victories over quality teams. The Tigers weekend started with a trip to Deatrice, Nebraska to take on Ottawa University JV and Southeast community College. Dropping only one set on the day the Tigers looks polished. Freshman Elena Yee dominated the Ottawa University JV match, recording 13 kills. Her dominant play continued during the Southeast match, recording an additional 15 kills. Freshman Libero Halee Pedro also impressed the coaching staff, recording 50 digs on Saturday alone.

With the momentum on their side the team packed up and traveled to Mason City, Iowa for two matches on the North Iowa Area Community College campus. While there, the team took on Dakota County Technical College and Grand view University JV. Again, the Tigers played will and dropped only one set on the day. The Tigers defeat the Vikings of Grand View Universityafter dropping the opening set and stringing three great sets together for the 3-1 victory. Freshman Sadie Smith turned heads, showing great power frm her outside hitter position, recording 15 kills to lead the Tigers. Feeling good and playing efficient volleyball the team finished Dakota County Technical College in three quick sets.

The Tiger volleyball team is now 13-2 and looks to be a team that can make a run at post-season play. The team will get a few days off after a tough four-match weekend, the team will hit the curt on Thursday, September 20 when they travel to Iowa falls, Iowa for a Iowa Valley rivalry match with Ellsworth Community College.
