Webster hired as school's first Sports Information Director

Marshalltown Community College Director of Athletics and Student Life, Dan Huntley, has announced the hiring of the school's first full-time Sports Information Director in Ricky Webster. Webster will serve as the Coordinator of Sports Information and Compliance and began his duties on June 3, 2013.

The hiring of Webster coincides with the college's commitment to enhance the ability to provide up-to-date quality information regarding the athletic programs on campus, student athletes, news, schedules, and more beginning July 1, 2013 with the new athletic website hosted by Presto Sports, www.mcc.athletics.com. Fans will be able to access the new site through the MCC main web page by clicking on the athletics tab.

Webster will also assist with NJCAA compliance aspects, primarily student athlete eligibility issues.

Webster comes to MCC from The College at Brockport, a Division III institution in western New York. Webster served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications since 2011. His primary duties consisted of maintaining Brockport's athletic website with daily press releases. Webster also focused on game-day responsibilities, including statistical input for the school's 23 athletic teams while working closely with local and national media. Webster helped expand Brockport's social media while incorporating live video streaming for multiple sports.

Prior to Brockport, Webster received a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Fredonia State University where he served as a liaison to the sports information department. Webster helped revamp the department's athletic website while focusing on game-day management.
