MCC Athletics announces Academic All-Region honors

The Marshalltown Community College athletic department has been informed by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) that 64 MCC student-athletes qualified for Fall Academic All-Region honors. First Team honorees must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to 4.0, and Second Team honorees must have a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA.

The Tiger baseball team qualified 17 players: First Team include Ryan Bond of Calgary, Alberta; Alex Wickett of Tiny, Ontario; Brady Lorber of Davenport, IA; Brett Johnston of Greenbank, Ontario; Carson Bougher of Des Moines, IA; Griffin Busch of Orton, Ontario; Jake Ulbert of Belvidere, IL; Jordan Hartley of Whitby, Ontario; Kyle Magdic of Beamsville, Ontario; Sinclair Lee of Victoria, British Columbia; Trevor Doerring of Collins, IA and Tyler Greig of Burlington, Ontario. Second Team honorees include Carter Schellsmidt of Waukon, IA; Charlie Adams of Dundas, Ontario; Chase Clemons of Gahanna, OH; Joey Marker of Indianola, IA and Johnny Campbell of Leavenworth, KS.

The softball team qualified nine players: First Team include Ava Dixon of Gold Coast, Australia; Grace Scott of Solon, IA; Kimberly Rodriguez of Gilman, IA; Kyleigh Westlin of Eldridge, IA; Luisa Noroha of Brasilla, Brazil and Paige Westlin of Eldridge, IA. Second Team honorees include Alexia Jarrett of Des Moines, IA; Katherine Acosta of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Neveah Baca of Sahuarita, AZ.

The men's basketball team qualified 10 players: First Team include DJ Hamilton of Bronx, NY; Jion Fukushima of Tokyo, Japan; Joe Scott of Baltimore, MD; Julio Feria of Seville, Spain and Michael Barell of Midreshet Ben-Gurion, Israel. Second Team honorees include: Andrew Kim of Sydney, Australia; Isaac Turay of Freetown, Sierre Leone; Itay Nechmad of Jerusalem, Israel; Rob Keys of Philadelphia, PA and Tyler Burrows of Bolinbrook, IL.

The women's basketball team qualified 4 players: First Team include Abigail Gradwell of Marshalltown and Destiny Sao-Martinez of Las Vegas, NV. Second Team honorees include Ekin Taciroglu of Istanbul, Turkey and Nyajah Orr of Richmond, IN.

The men's soccer team qualified 24 players: First Team include Aaron Debus of Heimerdingen, Germany; Alejandro Veintimilla of Quito, Ecuador; Alex Neri of Frosinone, Italy; Andres Gutierrez of Bogota, Colombia; David Ospina of Bogota, Colombia; Juan Bustamante of Bogota, Colombia; Juan Cortes of Bogota, Colombia; Kai Yoshida of Hyogo, Japan; Kenshin Akimoto of Kanagawa, Japan; Marcus de Lima of Manaus, Brazil; Mateusz Pass of Wrocław Dolnośląskie, Poland; Pedro da Rocha of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Samuel Camacho of Bogota, Colombia; Santiago Rios of Bogota, Colombia and Seiya Sato of Shizuoka, Japan.
