MCC Athletics announces Academic All-Region honors

MARSHALLTOWN – The Marshalltown Community College athletic department has been informed by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) that 79 MCC student-athletes qualified for Fall Academic All-Region honors. First Team honorees must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to 4.0, and Second Team honorees must have a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA.

The Tiger baseball team qualified 21 players: First Team include Carson Bougher of Des Moines, IA; Tony DiRienzo of Commerce City, CO; Ryland Khan of Winnipeg, MB; Sinclair Lee of Victoria, BC; Brett Otto of Newtown, MO; Carter Schellsmidt of Waukon, IA; Jake Ulbert of Belvidere, IL; Gabe Weighner; and Alex Wickett of Tiny, Ontario. Second Team honorees include Johnny Campbell of Leavenworth, KS; Chase Clemons of Gahanna, OH; Hayden Connor of Beechy, SK; Bradyn Fairman of Bettendorf, IA; Clayton Feldman of Marion, IA; Jordan Johnson of Girard, OH; Noah Lamphier of Pickering, ON; Brady Lorber of Davenport, IA; Joey Marker of Indianola, IA; Jackson Radi of Manhattan, KS; Hayden Rausch of Cedar Falls, IA; and Jackson Tubbs of North Liberty, IA.

The men's basketball team qualified 10 players: First Team include Jose Carvalho of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Lucas Frohwein of Colo, IA; Jion Fukushima of Tokyo, Japan; DJ Hamilton of Bronx, NY; Jayden Hill of Marion, IA; Ahmed Ibrahim of Queens, NY; Shane Lieuw On of Paramaribo, Suriname; Eishin Naito of Fukuoka, Japan; and Justice Small of Toronto, Ontario. Second Team honorees include Antwan Bridgett of Trenton, NJ; Mohammed Idrissi of Rotterdam, Netherlands; Isaiah Monroe of New Orleans, LA; and Richard Udoagwa of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The women's basketball team qualified six players: First Team include Abigail Gradwell of Marshalltown, IA; Nunu Johnson of San Antonio, TX; and Shenell Stewart of Nassau, Bahamas. Second Team honorees include Kenijae Cherry of Las Vegas, NV; Ky'Ana Allen of Las Vegas, NV; and Mia Sao-Martinez of Las Vegas, NV.

The men's soccer team qualified 17 players: First Team include Jerry Anolfis of Cap Haitien, Haiti; Joao Augusto of Cravinhos, Brazil; Enrico Cordeiro Borges of Ituana-nias Gerais, Brazil; Gustavo De Araujo of Sabara, Brazil; Ian Franchini of Sao Lourenco do Oeste, Brazil; Mauricio Groppo of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sonosuke Kakizaki of Kisotown, Japan; Andres Mendoza of Bogota, Colombia; Guilherme Nakamura of Sao Paulo, Brazil; David Ospina of Bogota, Colombia; Tim Straubmueller of Salach, Germany; Victor Tavares of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Joao Valmorbida of Caxia do Sul, Brazil; and Alejandro Veintimilla of Guayquil, Equador.Second Team honorees include Haru Takizawa of Niigata, Japan; Kota Takumi of Aichi Prefecture, Japan; and Pedro de Costa of Curitiba, Brazil.

The women's soccer team qualified seven players: First Team include Manoella De Carvalho Santos of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Guilia Ferrarez Dorini of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Thalia Gallegos of Marshalltown, IA. Second Team honorees include Tasia Eicher of Grinnell, IA; Subin Ha of Gyeyang-gu Republic of Korea; Luiza Roboredo of Salvador, Brazil; Ximena Valez Bustos of Puebla, Mexico.

The softball team qualified three players: First Team include Ava Dixon of Queensland, Australia; and Kimberly Rodriguez of Gilman, IA. Ireland Sebetka of Grinnell, IA received Second Team honors.

The volleyball team qualified 12 players: First Team include Carolina Arcia of Elliott, IA; Rezzan Guner of Istanbul, Turkey; Violet Hougland of Ottumwa, IA; Genesis Melenciano Carela of Hato Mayor Del Ray, Dominican Republic; Kenna Paxson of Conrad, IA; Heidi Pena of New York, NY; Imigyn Stratton of North English, IA; Addy Stull of Caledonia, IL; and Callie Swanson of Conrad, IA. Second Team honorees include Kaylee LaPlant of Cedar Falls, IA; Yafriel Payano Pichardo of Samana, Dominican Republic; and Ireland Sebetka of Grinnell, IA.
