The Marshalltown Community College baseball team hosts its final Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) home series this weekend as No. 3 Iowa Western Community College comes to Shawn Williams Field. The four-game set has been pushed back to a Sunday/Monday series.

Originally scheduled for a Saturday start, Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 2:00 PM. First pitch for Monday's twin bill is set for 12:00 PM.

MCC (16-25, 5-11) is fresh off of two wins in a slugfest at Ellsworth Community College that saw the Tigers produce 28 runs in two games. The Tigers took game one 16-14 before rallying for a 12-10 win in game two.

The Reivers (33-5, 14-2), ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division I Baseball poll, enter the weekend riding a 16-game winning streak that includes four wins over the Tigers between April 10 and 11. Iowa Western has won 14 straight over MCC, dating back to the 2013 season. The Tigers' last victory over the Reivers came on April 21, 2013 when MCC took a 12-11 win at home. MCC won three of four that weekend at Shawn Williams Field.

Iowa Western currently holds a 5.5 game lead over second place Indian Hills Community College (22-18, 8-7) in the ICCAC standings. MCC is tied with Muscatine Community College with a 5-11 conference record.

ICCAC Division I Baseball Standings

Pedro Lopez (Naples, FL/Naples) has carried a hot bat with him recently as the sophomore is on a six-game hitting streak, including a 5-5 performance against Ellsworth. Lopez is batting .647 during the stretch to raise his season batting average to .314 and has reached base in 10 consecutive at bats. Engel Rosario (Santo Domingo, DR/Cenapec) has crushed three home runs in his last seven games along with eight RBI.

Freshman Kolton Gonnnerman (Centerville, IA/Centerville) has emerged as a dominant starting pitcher for the Tigers. The right hander is coming off of a four hit, one run, complete game performance in a 16-1 win over conference opponent Muscatine Community College on April 19. Against Iowa Western on April 11, Gonnerman retired the first nine Reivers to start the game and allowed just one hit with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The Reivers' Alex Krupa is leading the ICCAC with a .458 batting average while Jake Scudder is second with a .411 mark. On the mound, Iowa Western has been led by Devon Perez (6-0, 2.10 ERA) and Brody Hagel-Pitt (5-1, 1.65 ERA).

Tickets for all doubleheaders are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for non-MCC students, and children 12 and under receive free admission. MCC students, faculty, and staff receive free admission as well.
