Sophomore night, Jam the Gym highlight action packed Saturday

Saturday night marks the regular season finale for the Marshalltown Community College men's and women's basketball teams at the Student Activity Center. The Tigers will host Northeast Community College along with a series of events throughout the night.

The women's team will square off with the Hawks at 5:00 PM while the men's game is set to tip-off at 7:00 PM. The MCC cheer and dance team will be in attendance as well with halftime performances at each game. The women's team will be competing for the No. 2 seed with the Hawks in the upcoming Region XI Tournament while the men have already clinched the No. 4 seed and a home game in the Region XI Tournament.

Saturday night marks sophomore night for the Tigers as well. Two members of the women's team- Barbara Araoz (Neuquen, Argentina/Maria Auxiliadota) and Dalia Cantu (Monterrey, Mexico/ITESM Eugenio Garza La Guera) and six members of the men's team- Reggie Gradwell (Marshalltown, IA/West Marshall), Souf Mensah (Nantes, France/Canarias), Danny Mozee (Louisville, KY/Louisville Male), Jonas Perkis (Trondheim, Norway/Charlottenlund VGS), Floyd Preito (Philadelphia, PA/Constitution), and Brandon Simmons (Harlem, NY/Teaneck) will be honored in the Student Activity Center following the women's game.

Seven members of the cheer and dance team will be recognized for their contributions to the program at halftime of the men's game following their performance. The seven to be honored are: Gina Chandler (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), Dayana Chavarria (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), Kallie Davis (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), Yahaira, Espinoza (Marshalltown, IA/Des Moines East), McKaylea Keeler (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), Brittany Waldron (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown), and Jenn Zarate (Marshalltown, IA/Marshalltown).

Along with all of the athletic based events on Saturday, the MCC admissions department will host its annual "Jam the Gym" night for local high school students.
