Ryan Flack

Ryan Flack begins his 5th season as Head Basketball Coach for the MCC Tigers. 

The former Tiger (2007-08), spent his first three seasons as assistant coach (2016-19) for MCC, before taking over as Head Coach in the summer of 2019. In his six seasons in Marshalltown, Flack has helped 24 student-athletes move on to the 4-year level; including two NJCAA All Americans Mohamed Thiam (2018) and Kelton Edwards (2019). Prior to MCC, Flack was an assistant coach for one season (2015-16) at NJCAA DII John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL.

Following his time as a player at MCC, Flack served one season (2010-11) as a student-manager at Iowa State University, under Head Coach Fred Hoiberg. He then served two-seasons (2011-13) as varsity boy’s assistant coach at Urbandale High School in Iowa under Brad Bjorkgren, helping the team two back-to-back winning seasons, including a Substate Championship, which earned the team a trip to the 2013 State of Iowa Class 4A Tournament. During the 2012-13 season Flack was offered the opportunity to be assistant coach/head JV coach at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa while splitting time at Urbandale.

Flack spent two seasons (2013-15) as graduate assistant coach at South Dakota State University, under Head Coach Scott Nagy. While at SDSU, he helped the Jackrabbits to two consecutive post-season tournaments, including the 2015 NIT, where the team advanced to the 2nd Round, giving the program its first win as a NCAA DI school.  During his two years at SDSU, he helped seven all conference players, including two academic All-Americans. 

A Nevada, Iowa native, Flack earned his master’s degree from South Dakota State University in Counseling & Human Development and his bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Upper Iowa University. 

He and his wife Carlee are the proud parents of three children, Quinn, Kallen, and Gracen.
