Tiger Softball Players Earn Honors

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has announced the softball All-Region teams for the 2019 season. The Tigers notched one student-athlete on the 1st team, Utility Player, Saydee Terrell. The sophomore from Chariton, Iowa played seven of the nine positions on the field throughout the course of the season. Primarily playing in the center of the field, she was third in the conference with 17 homeruns. She lead the Tigers in homeruns, RBIs (33), hits (39), and slugging percentage (.855). She was third on the squad with a .333 batting average.

Three Tigers were honored on the second team: Ashley Tennant, Daryan (D.J.) Schmidt, and Nicolette Dabbs. Tennant, a freshman from Adel, and Schmidt, a sophomore from Des Moines, both received 2nd Team infield nods. Tennant who played primarily on the left side of the infield in addition to doing work in the circle, led the Tigers in games played (41) and carried a .311 batting average while hitting 12 homeruns and plating 30 runs, and scored 33 herself.

Schmidt played primarily 1st base and tallied a .963 fielding percentage only committing 10 errors in 269 chances. Offensively, she led the Tigers with nine doubles. She was also second on the team in batting average at .337.

 Dabbs, a sophomore from Anchorage, Alaska, rounds out the Tiger honorees earning 2nd Team All-Region for Outfield. Dabbs logged innings at all three outfield positions, while providing a consistent presence in the offensive lineup as well. She hit .322, with 18 RBIs, 6 home runs, 4 doubles, and 17 runs in a total of 34 games.
