De La Rosa signs to play DII volleyball

Marshalltown Community College's Isneydy Da LaRosa, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has signed to NCAA DII University of Arkansas Monticello in Monticello, AR to continue her academic and athletic career.

De La Rosa played in 150 sets in her career at MCC. She finished with 423 kills averaging 2.82 kills per set. She also finished with 511 digs averaging 3.4 digs per set. She earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) All-Region Honorable Mention in 2023 and ICCAC Second Team Academic All-Region honors in 2023.

"Isneydy has worked extremely hard for this opportunity, not only on but off the court," commented MCC Head Volleyball Coach Chris Brees. "Coming to MCC Isneydy stepped off the plane knowing literally a few words in English. She has shown her work ethic when a year and a half later she is now pretty fluent speaking."

When asked about her choice to continue at the UAM De La Rosa said, "I really enjoyed visiting the campus. I really like the positivity of the coaching staff as well as the girls on the team. I will also be going into health and physical education as my major and they have a great program." As a transfer student, De La Rosa will bring experience to the team and is hoping to help take them to the next level.

Along with volleyball, De La Rosa has been a Resident Assistant in Student Housing and played on the Women's Basketball team 2022-23.

""I'm excited and proud of Isneydy," said Brees. "This is a great opportunity for her. UAM is in a tough conference, but she is well equipped and ready to step in help lead her new teammates."

When asked about her time at MCC, De La Rosa said, "It was a big change when I first came to MCC in the beginning mostly because of the language difference but MCC is so welcoming to international students."
