Tiger baseball splits with Iowa Lakes

In the Marshalltown Community College Tiger baseball team's doubleheader yesterday, MCC split with Iowa Lakes with a 7-5 loss in game one and a 8-7 win in game two.

In game one the Tiger bats were slow to start as they were down 7-0 going into the fifth inning. A homerun by Jake Ulbert put MCC back in the game starting a three-run inning. MCC defense was able to hold the Lakers scoreless for the rest of the game and add two more runs in the seventh but fell just short 5-7.

At the plate for MCC, Ulbert had three RBI in addition to his homerun. Charlie Adams had a triple, Alex Wicket and Kyle Magdic each had a double and Wickett had an RBI. Carter Schellsmidt has a sacrifice fly and RBI.

Game two the Tigers had a three run second inning to get on the board and scattered two more runs in later innings but came up big in the end with a three run ninth inning to take the win 8-7.

At the plate for the Tigers, Adams had a double and two RBI, Joey Marker had a double and an RBI, Schellsmidt had a sacrifice fly and two RBI, Kyle Magdic had two RBI and Brett Johnson had an RBI.
