Andrew Goforth

Esports Interim Head Coach Andrew Goforth joined the Tiger coaching staff Spring 2022 when MCC launched the first Esports program.

Goforth is a lifelong student of gaming. Ever since his Dad took him to the Midwestern Pokémon tournament at the age of nine, he has been obsessed with playing both video games and CCG's at a competitive level.

In the early to mid-2000's, Goforth competed for the CPL team [trs] or therubysquare.com playing Counter-Strike: Source. He also took part in competitive and mythic raiding on World of Warcraft for upwards of 15 years, achieving several number 1, top 10, and top 1% parses during his tenure.

From a scholarly perspective, Andrew has presented essays at national conferences including PCA about League of Legends and different identities that come from gaming culture. He is currently working on a project that focuses on identity in the first-year composition classroom, arguing that the identity of gamers and gaming communities are becoming ever present within incoming Freshman classes and what this necessitates.

Goforth has been selected top player rankings at height including:

  • Halo: Western Regional Tournament Winner
  • Hearthstone: Grandmaster
