MCC Athletics announces Academic All-Region honors

The Marshalltown Community College athletic department has been informed by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) that 41 MCC student-athletes qualified for Fall Academic All-Region honors. First Team honorees must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to 4.0, and Second Team honorees must have a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA.

The Tiger soccer team qualified 21 players: First Team includes Aleix Viladot of Encamp, Andorra; Augusto Cunha of Feira de Santona, Brazil; Guilherme Pereira of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Gustavo Cunha of Salvador, Brazil; Jorge Blasco of Castellon, Spain; Kotaro Hirokawa of Yokohama, Japan; Levi Vasconselos of Pernambuco, Brazil; Logan Vidal Mahecha of Puerto Boyaca, Colombia; Matteo Crescente of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Seiya Zen of Kobe, Japan and Yushi Nagao of Tokyo, Japan. Second Team honorees include Bruno Fazzolari De Freitas of Indaiatuba, Brazil; Cesar Soler of Barcelona, Spain; Jhonatan Brandt of Jundiai, Brazil; Kazuki Kimura of Hyogo, Japan; Kenlove Solon of St. Paul, MN; Marco De Medeiros of Rio de Janerio, Brazil; Matheus de Oliveira of Salvador, Brazil; Matheus Pereira of Brasilia, Brazil and Sekou Kromah of London.

The volleyball team qualified 13 players: First Team includes Andjela Bobic of Kula, Serbia; Bojana Stekovic of Gornji Milanovac, Serbia; Elena Yee of Milford, UT; Fauneil Olander of Winside, NE; Genesis Wanatee of Marshalltown, IA; Halee Pedro of Kailua, HI; Hannah Knapke of Fort Recovery, OH; Ludmilla De Oliveira Souza of Contagem, Brazil; Marija Egic of Crvenka, Serbia; Morgan Jesse of Denver, CO; Raquel Gonzales of Las Cruces, NM; and Shaelee Smith of San Tan Valley, AZ. Jelena Vucic of Smederevo, Serbia received Second Team honors.

The women's basketball team qualified seven players for academic honors: First Team honorees were Eva Carballo of Madrid, Spain; Laurin Lyons of Grand Junction, IA; Lotte Van Malsen of Tilburg, Netherlands; Nuria Castillo of Barcelona, Spain and Whitley Ervin of Eaton, CO. Second Team honorees included Carla Collado of Barcelona, Spain and Eva Zaragoza of Madrid, Spain.
