Tiger men with 1st conference win

The Marshalltown Community College men's basketball team came up just five points short last Wednesday in their overtime conference game against Iowa Western, but they wouldn't be denied as they took on Northeast Nebraska this past Saturday. The Tigers won 77-54.

MCC came back from an 11 game losing streak to take their first conference game of the year. MCC held the Northeast offense to just 36% shooting from the field. They went into half with a 37-29 lead and didn't look back.

The Tigers had three players in double figures led by Caleb Jacobs who had 18 points followed by Quavon Blackwood with 15 and JyDonn Griffith with 11 points. Blackwood led the team in rebounds with 11, giving him his first double-double of the season.

The Tigers will be on the road for their next two games against conference opponents. They will take on Indian Hills on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Southeastern on Wednesday, Jan. 29 with both games tipping off at 7 pm.
