Marshalltown Community College men's basketball player Quavon Blackwood from Laurel, MD has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week of January 13-19. 

The MCC Tigers picked up their first conference win and stopped an 11 game skid last week with a convincing 77-54 win at home over Northeast.

Sophomore point guard, Blackwood, was inserted into the starting lineup last week and provided a much-needed spark. He went 6 for 10 with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Defensively, he has led the Tigers in charges taken this season. In two games as a starter, he has averaged 13.5 points, 8 rebounds and 2.5 steals.
