Tigers Go 1-1 in Day Two of THE Spring Games

The MCC softball team entered day two of the Spring Games 1-1 after falling to Madison College and defeating Cuyahoga Community College on Monday. The team split their two games on Tuesday morning, defeating Illinois Valley Community College 9-5 before falling to Heartland Community College 11-3.

The Tigers made some noise early against Illinois Valley Community College, scoring runs in the first, second and third innings before scoring five runs in the fifth inning. Taylor Tague started in the circle for the Tigers before Katelyn Cantu came in in the second inning. Cantu recorded 73 strikes in her five innings of action, giving up 10 hits and 3 errors for a 4.76 ERA. Chasity Jordan and Shaena Robinson shined Monday morning in game one. Jordan went 2-3 at the plate and recorded two RBIs while Robinson went 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Katelyn Cantu played well offensively against Illinois Valley, going 2-3 at the plate and bringing a run in.

Game two, saw the bats quiet down for the Tigers, recording only five hits as a team. Shaena Robinson provided the sole bright spot against Heartland Community College, hitting a homerun in the sixth inning. Robinson has now hit two homeruns in as many days. Taylor Tague struggled in the circle, giving up 11 hits and recording 11 errors in five innings.

The Tigers will get a day off before getting back on the field on Wednesday. A three game slate on Wednesday as the Tigers take on Waubonsee Community College at 9:00 AM, Anderson University JV at 11:30 AM, and Mott Community College at 1:00 PM.
