Season Ends in Ottumwa
The Marshalltown Community College softball team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa Friday morning to play in the Region XI Division I Softball Tournament with hopes of advancing to the National Tournament. The Tigers held a 15-22 overall record and finished 2-10 in the ICCAC to hold the #4 seed, pairing them with the #1 seed Warriors of Indian Hills Community College. The Warriors swept the Tigers in conference play this season and the trend continued as the Warriors defeated the Tigers 10-3 in the first round.

The Marshalltown Community College softball team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa Friday morning to play in the Region XI Division I Softball Tournament with hopes of advancing to the National Tournament. The Tigers held a 15-22 overall record and finished 2-10 in the ICCAC to hold the #4 seed, pairing them with the #1 seed Warriors of Indian Hills Community College. The Warriors swept the Tigers in conference play this season and the trend continued as the Warriors defeated the Tigers 10-3 in the first round.
The Tigers were held scoreless in the first four innings while the Warriors added a run in the second, two runs in the third and four runs in the fourth. Down 7-0 the Tigers were able to cut the lead to four after a three run home run by freshman Chasity Jordan. The Warriors responded in the bottom of the fifth with two runs and added another run in the sixth to cap off the 10-3 victory.
The Tigers moved to the consolation bracket, taking on the Reivers of Iowa Western in an elimination game. The Tigers were 0-6 this season against the Reviers and faced a tall task to play their way into a Saturday matchup as part of the double-elimination tournament. The Tigers were unable to make noise at the plate, recording only three hits and fell 9-0 to be eliminated from the tournament. Reiver pitcher, Michaela Ebbs, made quick work of the Tigers, pitching five inning and facing only 18 batters while the Tigers started Katelyn Cantu in the circle. Cantu faced 11 batters before being replaced by Taylor Tague in the second inning.
With the loss, the Tigers season comes to a close with a final record of 15-24. The student athletes will complete finals next week, with sophomores graduating on May 4th.
