My name is Jalen Shaw I’m from Las Vegas, NV. I have a big family on both sides but I'm closer to my mom’s side of the family. My family is a big support system when it's needed. I am the first one in my family to leave for college. I have 2 pitbulls and fish.

I love a lot of movies and tv shows so i don't really have a favorite but a movie i can watch over and over is Friday and i don't have a favorite show but i like anything comedy or horror.  I listen to Hip-hop, love songs, old school, gospel, and rap. I don't have a favorite artist because I listen to everything but a song I can put on repeat is Sum to Prove by Lil Baby because I feel that song alot.

Outside of basketball and school I like to spend time with family and friends, cook, watch movies, and go out. My favorite part about MCC is playing basketball because I really love basketball and that's a way for me to show my talent. Before I didn't see myself attending MCC, not even for the scholarship, But i learned that on the other side of fear is success. I really want to take basketball to another level. Especially because I'm the first in my family to do it, I want to be the great example for my younger siblings in my family and carry on with my major. 

My most memorable moment is when i played my big sister's old school and got a 30 piece on them. I knew we were going to beat them but i didn't know i was going to accomplish a dream for me. Another moment is when I was first in state with steals.

As an athlete my goal is to play with effort and heart every time i touch the court, and be able to motivate my teammates and other players even when I'm not motivated and be the little push someone needs. My goal is to play like I'm the best on the court but keep my head on straight at all times. I want people to see me play and know I'm one of the committed players. I want to leave the place better than I found it and stay humble on and off the court. And most of all give all and take nothing!

My major is business because I want my own business because I don't enjoy working for people. I haven't made up my mind about what I want as a job but I want to sell things and make things for people. I don't want people to know anything about me just know I'm doing this for a purpose and this is my story.
