The MCC baseball team saw eight team members recognized as members of the ICCAC All-Region Teams. Candido Encarnacion and Tyler Coleman were named 1st Team All-Region. Eli Bergeron, Ryan Carter, David, Davila, Tom Josten, and Luis Menendez were named 2nd Team All-Region. Jacob Medcalf was named Honorable Mention.
First Team
Candido Encarnacion was one of two Tigers to play in every game this season. The shortstop led the team in hits (52), runs (41), and triples (3). The Cumberlands commit hit .361 on the season. Defensively he led the team with 84 assists while earning a .888 fielding percentage.
Tyler Coleman appeared in 43 games for the Tigers. The freshman from Victoria, TX spent the majority of the season patrolling center field and batting in the middle of the order for the Tigers. Coleman led the team with 34 RBI's and tied for the team lead with 11 doubles. Coleman was a magnet for pitched balls this season as his 17 times being hit by a pitch was more than double the amount of times any other Tiger was hit this season. In the field, Coleman committed just three errors in 43 games for a .961 fielding percentage.
Second Team
Eli Bergeron split time this season between catching and serving as DH for the Tigers. The sophomore from Center Point, IA appeared in 42 games for the Tigers this season and was a consistent performer for the MCC squad. Bergeron hit .304 while batting in 27 runs and scoring 25 runs himself.
Ryan Carter is from Ennis, TX. The righty made the majority of his 38 appearances at third base. He also logged some games in the outfield, at DH and made two appearance out of the bullpen. Carter hit .290 on the season with 7 homeruns, 25 RBI's, and 29 runs. He also stole 4 bases.
David Davila came to form late in the season for the Tigers and provided consistency on the mound. The Tigers won three of the final four games that the lefty sophomore started. Two of his best starts came against Indian Hills in April. The Texas College commit struck out 39 batters in 41.1 innings pitched.
Tom Josten joined Encarnacion in the lineup every game this year. The power hitting University of Central Florida commit led the team with 11 homeruns. He was tied for first on the team with 11 doubles, second on the team with 33 RBI's, and led the team in walks (34). Josten primarily played second base for the Tigers and earned a .937 fielding percentage.
Luis Menendez had a solid freshman year for the Tigers. The big right handed hitter spent the bulk of the season at first base for the Tigers. He finished the year with a .288 average while hitting 7 home runs, batting in 27 runs, and crossing the plate 20 times. Menendez had his best game on April 8 in a 10-4 win against Indian Hills as he batted in five runs and blasted a homerun.
Honorable Mention
Jacob Medcalf carved out a role for himself out of the bullpen this year. The freshman from Franklin, TX appeared in 15 games this season with 12 of his appearances coming in relief. As the year progressed, Medcalf's role became to hold on to a lead. However, unlike a traditional closer, he was often asked to throw multiple innings. Medcalf led the team with a 5.87 ERA. However, the highlight of Medcalf's freshman campaign came in his final appearance where he was asked to start for the first time in nearly two months in an elimination game of the Region XI Tournament against Indian Hills. Medcalf threw 7.2 strong innings while registering a 3.52 ERA and six strikeouts to help the Tigers defeat the Falcons 10-5 and advance to the Region XI Championship against Iowa Western.
