Tiger softball wins two on the road

The Marshalltown Community College Tiger softball team swept Southwestern this past Friday in two games.

MCC took game one 7-5 with Kimberly Rodriguez on the mound. Rodriguez scattered 10 hits through seven innings giving up five earned runs while walking just one.

Tigers had four homeruns in the game. Paige Westlin led the way at the plate with two homeruns and three RBI. Kyleigh Westlin had a homerun and an RBI. Rodriguez had the final home run, a double, and two RBI. Alexia Jarett rounded out the Tiger offense with an RBI.

A five run second inning helped the Tigers take game two 9-6 over Southeastern with Lexis Smith on the mound. Smith had seven runs with six earned runs, six walks and two strikeouts.

The bats continued to stay hot for the Tigers as K. Westlin and Jarett each had another homerun. Ilajay Tromp, K. Westlin and Jarett each had two RBI. Grace Scott, Ava Dixon and Jade Walton contributed one RBI each. Rodriguez and Neveah Baca each had a double.

MCC will be at home on Wednesday, April 3 as they host Southeastern at 2 and 4 pm.
