A letter from the editor: Thank you Tiger Nation!

*Ricky Webster has served as the Coordinator of Sports Information at Marshalltown Community College for the past four years. He will be leaving MCC to work for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

"Marshalltown changed my life." A phrase often stated when current and former Marshalltown Community College student-athletes reflect on their time as a Tiger. As I reflect on my time of covering you, the student-athlete, it brings me joy to know that I was able to witness so many successful individuals come through the doors of the Student Activity Center since 2013.

In the waning days of my tenure at MCC, I've been asked what my favorite moment at Marshalltown has been. From the no-hitters to the acrobatic goals, there are plenty of moments that stand out. However, there is one that separates itself from all the rest. That moment was my first day at Marshalltown, simply for the fact that it led to four great years of showcasing the hundreds of talented Tigers and all of their wondrous feats on the field, in the classroom, and throughout the community.

As my time at MCC comes to a close, it is only right to recognize those that truly make our sports information profession flourish. It is a profession that flies under the radar, and we wouldn't have it any other way. The pride that has come from covering the Tigers is unmatched, and I've enjoyed every minute of it because of all of you.

To the community of Marshalltown: It takes a special environment to build a successful community college athletic program. The bright lights of 20,000 seat gymnasiums do not exist at the two-year level, but year in and year out, the city of Marshalltown continues to show up to support those who flock to MCC from across the globe. Your support of the Tigers is a driving force to the student-athletes' success at MCC.

To the parents, the families, the fan: From those that travel from state to state to cheer on the blue and gold, or those from 1,500 miles away that tune in for an afternoon of Tiger athletics, your support is unlike any other. The involvement from the families is a clear indication of why your son or daughter found success at Marshalltown. It's been a privilege to be able to cover so many great Tigers throughout the years.

To the faculty and staff of MCC: A student often wanders during their college years, hoping to find a path. The path that students find at MCC is a bright and prosperous one because of the dedicated faculty and staff. Your ability to lead those students on a successful journey during their college years is directly related to their future success, and it does not go unnoticed.

Lastly, to you, the Tiger: Without you, there is no article. Without you, there are no post-game discussions regarding earned or unearned runs, an assist or a turnover. The ability to showcase your accomplishments, your record-breaking achievements, your awards, has been an honor, something that only those in the sports information profession can truly understand. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, both on and off the field.

Continue to carry on the tradition of being a Tiger and always remember where your future began- Marshalltown Community College.
