MCC Athletics announces Academic All-Region honors

The Marshalltown Community College athletic department has been informed by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) that 78 MCC student-athletes qualified for Fall Academic All-Region honors. First Team honorees must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 to 4.0, and Second Team honorees must have a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA.

The Tiger baseball team qualified 23 players: First Team include Anderson Fenton of Ridgetown, ON, Canada; Brock Hatlan of Waukon, IA; Duncan Picketts of Kensington, Prince Edwards Island, Canada; Ernesto Moreno Jr. of Chicago, IL; Josh Gencel of Toronto, ON, Canada; Josh Ironside of St. Albert, AB, Canada; Luke Pell of Joliet, IL; Marcus Burton of Denver, CO; Matthew Hendricks of Waverly, IL; Ronnie Nowak of Munster, IN and Sam Tyrpa of Minnetonka, MN. Second Team honorees include Clayton Slack of Viroqua, WI; Cole Heather of Woodbury, MN; Easton York of Omaha, NE; Gabriel Followell of Des Moines, IA; Gage Juhlin of Elkhorn, NE; Joel Suraganan of Pickering, ON, Canada; JT Grace of Woodlawn, AR; Liam Allen of St. Andrews, MB, Canada; Riley McKinnon of Burlington, ON, Canada; Sean Miklus of Indianola, IA; Weston Durman of Neosho, MO and Will Johnson of Ankeny, IA.

The softball team qualified 13 players: First Team include Aspyn Harrison of Aledo, IL; Bridgette McKinney of Knoxville, IA; Emalee Davis of West Burlington, IA; Hailey Montez-Stanton of Plattsmouth, NE; Kyan Nickel of Kearney, NE; Kyleigh Westlin of Eldridge, IA; Paige Westlin of Eldridge, IA; Reagan Emerick of Macomb, IL and Shelby Hatcher of Council Bluffs, IA. Second Team honorees include Alyssa McElvain of Centerville, IA; Hannah Gibson of Pleasantville, IA; Riley Cox of and Sydney Haakenson of Carroll, IA.

The women's basketball team qualified seven players for academic honors: First team include Aryana McQueen of Scottsdale, AZ; Carla Dorta of Santa Cruz, Spain; Carolina Rodriquez Sanchez of Vigo, Spain; Ianara Morbidoni of Ceres, Argentina and Katharina Berg of Zulpich, Germany. Tylese Rosenberger of Toledo, IA and Waiaaria Rogers of Auckland, New Zealand received Second Team honors.

The men's basketball team qualified six players: First Team include Darren Ainembabazi of London, England; Aleksandar Begovic of Kotor, Montenegro; Alasan Mbowe of Lamin, Gambia and Rusmir Hamzic of Sarajevo, Bosnia. Eli Elston of Auburn, AL received Second Team honors.

The volleyball team qualified five players: First Team include Alex Knockel of New Sharon, IA; Andjela Bobic of Kula, Serbia; Meleah Sadler of Hudson, IA and Morgan Jesse of Denver, CO. Allinson Almonte of Santo Domingo, DR received Second Team honors.

The soccer team qualified 24 players: First Team include Andre Lopes of Contagem, Brazil; Bernardo Pereira of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Felipe da Silva of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Felipe Duarte of Bogota, Colombia; Filipe de Almeida of Niteroi, Brazil; Fumiya Shiraishi of Tokyo, Japan; Gabriel Dias of Brasila, Brazil; Gabriel Ormeneze of Curitiba, Brazil; Hikaru Togashi of Tokyo, Japan; Jhancarlo Palma of Caracas, Venezuela; Kirubel Goitom of Stuttgart, Germany; Lincoln Borges of Sabara, Brazil; Luan Marques of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Matheos Grahl Ribeiro of Curitiba, Brazil; Rafael Cagnin of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Rainer Pires of Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Ramon Bonzatto of Morretes, Brazil; Seonghwi Lee of Miryang-si, South Korea; Sodai Koketsu of Yokohama, Japan; Sora Noda of Tokyo, Japan and Tiago Ormeneze of Curitiba, Brazil. Second Team honors were earned by Matheus De Oliveira of Salvador, Brazil; Nicolas Perdomo of Bogota, Colombia and Ricardo Schroeder of Toledo, Brazil.
